What's the difference between the A and the B Team?

The A-Team demands a much higher level of commitment. A-Team members will be expected to attend three practices a week, as well as additional work out sessions. They will also be expected to travel to three to four out of state tournaments over the course of the winter and spring, while B-team members will have the option of going to one or two. The A-Team usually consists of more experienced players who are ready to learn more advanced strategy and skills. However, players may make the A-Team their first year without any previous ultimate experience. The B team is a good environment for new or returning players who want to develop their skills without committing to the A-Team’s practice and travel schedules. Many of the best players that have ever played at UW have spent a year or more on the B-Team learning and fine-tuning their disc skills.

How are the teams chosen?

The club will be split into teams in the time between our last fall tournament and the beginning of Winter Quarter. The committee that will select this year’s A-Team consists of two captains, three other veteran players and the coach. The Committee’s goal will be to select an A-Team that will be competitive in the current season while providing a strong base for the team’s future success.

If you have questions about the selection process, tournaments or the club in general, please feel free to email the captains at uwultima@u.washington.edu.

Additional information about the club is available in the New Players section.
